Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive, organised, and highly efficient Office Manager to join our dedicated team at a thriving special needs school in Southwark. This is a key leadership role in our front office, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of school administration and supporting the wider school community.

The ideal candidate will be professional, approachable, and confident in managing a busy office environment, with a strong commitment to supporting staff, students, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the school’s front office and administrative functions

  • Line manage admin and reception staff, ensuring high standards of service and support

  • Act as the first point of contact for staff, visitors, and families

  • Maintain and manage school records, attendance data, and communication systems

  • Coordinate office processes such as admissions, reporting, and school events

  • Support the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) with administration and compliance

  • Ensure all systems and processes meet safeguarding and data protection standards

  • Liaise with external agencies and contractors where required

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in school administration or office management (preferably in an education or SEN setting)

  • Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills

  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office and experience with SIMS, Arbor, or similar school systems

  • Ability to multitask, prioritise, and maintain confidentiality

  • A calm, professional, and friendly approach under pressure

  • Knowledge of GDPR and school safeguarding practices (training can be provided)

Desirable:

  • Experience in a special needs or inclusive education environment

  • Familiarity with Southwark local authority processes and procedures
