Building Fabric EngineerThe Portland Hospital, LondonFull time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 0800 – 1700). Flexibility will be required depending on business needs

We’re looking for a Building Fabric Engineer to join our Estates team based at The Portland Hospital. This role is vital in providing a first-class building maintenance service to the hospital, within the confines of the individual’s building maintenance experience.

What you’ll do:

  • Proficient at painting, decorating, carpentry, tiling, plastering, assisting electrical and mechanical engineers
  • First fix repairs to general hospital fabric fittings (e.g. furniture, wall paper, paint work, lockers, windows etc)
  • Undertaking other tasks as may be issued by the Chief Engineer
  • To respond to maintenance requests via the Engineering Central
  • To prioritize maintenance requests and carry out tasks in a logical and efficient manner
  • To supervise external contractors as directed by the Chief Engineer
  • To advise the Chief Engineer on problems as they occur

What you’ll bring:

  • NVQ, City and Guilds or equivalent qualifications in relevant trades like carpentry, joinery or plastering
  • Experience in a facilities management or building trades environment is highly desirable
  • Good general knowledge and understanding of all disciplines within building services
