Role overview

The Audit Manager will be a crucial member of the audit group. You will hold your own portfolio of clients reporting to the RI. You will be responsible for servicing clients, directing all assurance services delivered and managing our people.

This is a great career move for someone operating as a client relationship manager (or equivalent) who is looking to enhance their portfolio or an existing manager looking to develop a larger client portfolio with more complex clients.

As an Audit Manager, your typical daily duties will include:

  • Working alongside the manager team delivering high quality audits in your portfolio to our clients.
  • Being supported by the wider audit team to deliver the onsite work and will report into the RIs.
  • Building relationships with the clients so that you are the “go-to” person and will manage their expectations, their audit and our team to deliver a high-quality audit.
  • Leading, managing and developing the team and being a role model, being the point of reference for the audit team.
  • Completing file reviews utilising your existing technical knowledge and experience whilst developing your skills still further and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Identifying and delivering added value service to the clients to help them prosper; identifying opportunities, understanding the client needs and their businesses.
  • Maintaining and developing technical ability by attending training (including webinars), keeping abreast of technical development and being able to present your own research on technically challenging aspects.
  • Acting as a counselling manager and mentor to help other team members achieve personal and professional development goals.
  • Managing people responsibilities covering resource planning and allocation, performance management, training and feedback.
  • Reviewing and assessing WIP regularly and addressing overruns as they occur.
  • Raising bills regularly and prompting the RI for interim billing when required.

Working arrangements

The working week: 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday) to be worked from 09:00-17:30 / with flexibility of hours to meet specific work demands.

Location: Your principal work base is our London Office.

Person specifications – Desirable experience and skills

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent
  • Experience of working with an accountancy practice
  • Proven ability to be well organised, with own work, and with workflow of the portfolio
  • Competent in setting and meeting organisational deadlines
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of using cloud software in particular Xero
  • Experience in Sage and/or QuickBooks
  • Experience in using CCH
